Overview & Highlights
This group trip covers Ladakh's best-known sights over six nights: four in Leh, one in Nubra Valley and one beside Pangong Tso. The first two days stay in and around Leh so your body can adjust to the altitude before you cross Khardung La into Nubra Valley. In Nubra you visit Diskit Monastery and its giant Maitreya Buddha statue and walk on the Hunder sand dunes, home to double-humped Bactrian camels. A long scenic drive then takes you to Pangong Tso, and you return to Leh over Chang La, with a stop at Thiksey Monastery. The last full day takes in Hemis Monastery and Leh Palace. A trip captain travels with the group, and vegetarian and Jain meal options are available on request. Day 1 is a rest day on purpose, and we ask every guest to keep it that way.
- A rest day in Leh at the start, to acclimatise at around 3,500 metres
- Sham Valley: Alchi, the Indus and Zanskar Sangam and the Magnetic Hill
- Khardung La and a night in Nubra Valley
- Diskit Monastery and the Hunder sand dunes at sunset
- A night beside Pangong Tso, with sunrise over the lake, weather permitting
- Thiksey and Hemis monasteries and Leh Palace
- Trip captain with the group and vegetarian and Jain options on request
