Essential tips for travelling to Thailand

  • Dress properly in temples

Shoulders and knees must be covered at the Grand Palace and other temples.

  • Bargain at markets, not malls

Politely negotiate at street markets; prices are fixed in shops.

  • Respect the monarchy

Avoid any disrespectful comment or gesture about the royal family.

  • Check weather for island days

Sea conditions can change between May and October, so boat tours may be rescheduled.

  • Complete the digital arrival card

Thailand requires an online Digital Arrival Card shortly before arrival.

Visa information

Thailand has offered visa-free entry for Indian passport holders for short tourist stays, together with an online arrival card. Entry rules change often, so we confirm the current position and help you complete the arrival card.

Health and safety tips

No compulsory vaccinations from India. Use sunscreen, stay hydrated and drink bottled water. Be careful on scooters and with sea currents in the monsoon.

Currency and tipping

Carry Thai baht for markets and taxis, and use cards in hotels, malls and larger restaurants. ATMs charge a fee per withdrawal, so take out larger amounts less often. Tipping 20 to 50 baht is customary for good service.
