Overview & Highlights

This group trip covers the best of Meghalaya over six nights, three in Shillong, two in Cherrapunji and one near Dawki. You see Shillong's lakes and waterfalls, stand above Laitlum Canyons, visit Mawsmai Cave, Nohkalikai Falls and Seven Sisters Falls, and trek down to the double-decker living root bridge at Nongriat. The journey then moves towards the Bangladesh border, with a walk in Mawlynnong village and a boat ride on the clear Umngot river at Dawki. A trip captain travels with the group, and vegetarian and Jain meal options are available on request. The Nongriat trek is steep and takes most of a day, so this trip suits travellers with reasonable fitness. The drives are on winding hill roads, and we keep each day's programme modest.

  • The order of the itinerary may change due to weather, road or operational conditions, without reducing the sights covered.
  • Rates and availability are confirmed at the time of booking. Cancellation and refund are as per our Terms & Conditions.
  • Hill roads are winding. Guwahati to Shillong is about 100 km and takes around 3 hours, often longer in traffic or rain.
  • Meghalaya's monsoon runs from June to September with extremely heavy rain, landslides and road delays; treks, boating and viewpoints may be restricted or closed for safety.
  • Accommodation around Cherrapunji, Mawlynnong and Dawki is simpler than in Shillong, and hot water, power and mobile networks can be limited. Carry cash, as ATMs, cards and UPI may not work there.
  • This is a group departure and runs on minimum numbers; we will inform you in advance if a departure needs to change. A trip captain accompanies the group.
  • The Nongriat trek has thousands of steps and takes most of a day; it is not suitable for guests with knee, heart or back problems, or for small children.
  • Departures between June and September are subject to monsoon conditions and may be rescheduled for safety. Boat rides on the Umngot depend on water levels.
