Overview & Highlights

Travel with a small group through the heart of northern Tanzania, beginning in Arusha and moving on to Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant herds and baobab trees. From there you cross the highlands to the Serengeti for two days of game drives across the open plains, home to lions, zebras, wildebeest and many other species. The journey ends with a descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, a huge volcanic caldera that shelters a dense concentration of wildlife. A trip captain stays with the group throughout, and Indian meal options, including vegetarian and Jain, can be arranged on request.

Itinerary

1Day 1: Arrival in Kilimanjaro | Transfer to Arusha
  • Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and complete visa and immigration formalities.
  • Meet our representative and your trip captain, and transfer to Arusha.
  • Check in to the hotel and relax after your journey.
  • A short trip briefing is held in the evening.
  • Overnight stay in Arusha.
2Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
  • After breakfast, drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park.
  • Enjoy an afternoon game drive among elephants, baobab trees and open woodland.
  • Check in to the lodge or camp for dinner.
  • Overnight stay in the Tarangire area.
3Day 3: Tarangire Game Drive | Drive to Karatu
  • Set out early for a morning game drive in Tarangire.
  • Return for breakfast, then drive to the Karatu highlands.
  • Check in to the lodge and spend the evening at leisure.
  • Overnight stay in Karatu.
4Day 4: Karatu to the Serengeti
  • After breakfast, drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area towards the Serengeti.
  • Enjoy game viewing along the way as the landscape opens onto the plains.
  • Arrive at the lodge or camp in time for dinner.
  • Overnight stay in the Serengeti.
5Day 5: Full Day in the Serengeti
  • Spend the day on game drives across the Serengeti plains, with a packed lunch in the park.
  • Look out for lions, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes and many bird species.
  • Return to the lodge or camp to relax before dinner.
  • Overnight stay in the Serengeti.
6Day 6: Serengeti Morning Drive | Ngorongoro Highlands
  • Enjoy a final morning game drive in the Serengeti.
  • After breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro highlands.
  • Check in to the lodge and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure.
  • Overnight stay in Karatu or the Ngorongoro area.
7Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater | Return to Arusha
  • Descend early into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive.
  • Look for lions, elephants, hippos, zebras and hyenas on the crater floor.
  • After lunch, drive to Arusha.
  • Check in to the hotel for a farewell dinner with the group.
  • Overnight stay in Arusha.
8Day 8: Departure from Kilimanjaro
  • After breakfast, check out of the hotel.
  • Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home.
  • Depart Tanzania with your safari memories.
